Thanks for the discussion thread. One thing that stands out is the translation's tendency to turn vivid mythic imagery into a catalog entry, as seen in the snippet where it says 'transformed into magpies after they had repeated various songs on the subjects of the transformation of the Deities into various forms of animals; the rape' – this reads more like a footnote than poetry. I think a more fluid translation could bring out the emotional resonance. Would love to hear others' experiences with this translation.
